Background:
Anthropomorphism is the ability to give inanimate objects human like qualities. As robotics continue to make a deeper impact on the every day life of human beings, it is important to improve the human perception of robots. This robotic desk lamp serves to increase public confidence in the future of robotic design. The robotic desk lamp was constructed using an off the shelf Ikea desk lamp and was modified with four servo motors giving it four degrees of freedom. The lamp is able to react to voice and sound commands and will dance upon the introduction of music. |
